The end is closed at one end & open on the other end.
The total length of the zipper is from top of the top-stopper to the bottom of the bottom stopper.
The standard applications are all trousers & denims, pockets, broader, tents, awnings, leather goods, wet suits, etc.
The standard complaint or problem could be done to slider breaking or zip breaking during washing or ballooning operations. The caution to prevent &  completely avoid this problems is to buckle-up the button on the flap by a stitch to prevent the load of the garment on the slider.
The B.S. 3084:2006 recommends that closed end zipper in metal has to
be used to specification A, B, C, D & E as per the applications Categorized separately.
